Autumn Weather in Des Moines

Here in Des Moines, we know winter weather too well. Thankfully there's a sweet spot right before the snow falls that many Iowanians live for. The weather this Autumn in Des Moines is set to be nice and warm, with just a small hint of rain. Perfect weather for traveling around the great state of Iowa, especially here in Des Moines.

The summer months in Des Moines can get pretty toasty, but become a bit crisper come the evening. When fall hits, temperatures typically take about a 10°(F) drop. Weather projections for this autumn show that come September, we will see an average daily temp of 77° and a nightly temp of 55°. Rain shouldn't be too active as it's only predicted to have an average of about six rainy days. As we come into the later autumn months, like October and beginning of November, there will be an average of a 20° drop for daily and nightly temps. The rain will become a bit more scarce, dropping the average rainy days from 6 a month to 4. The weather will become quite a bit more chilly after Halloween, letting all of us in Des Moines know that winter is on its way!

Dressing for the beautiful, warm, and breezy autumn weather should be no problem and a bit easier than bundling coat after coat. A light jacket or sweater to accompany any outfit would be a smart move. Shorts are still a comfortable choice for autumn wear but come nightfall you may be ready to change into some long pants. Keep an umbrella handy for those rare, but possible, rainy days too! Nothing worse than being wet and chilly!

Enjoy the last of the warm weeks while we can here in Des Moines! Pretty soon winter will be here before we know it, and with winter brings snow. With Autumn, we can enjoy the leaves changing and hear the crunch they make under our feet with a crisp fall breeze for a few weeks at least!

What Not To Do When Choosing Window Treatments

What Not To Do When Choosing Window Treatments

There are different reasons to install window treatments in your home. One, to minimize sunlight coming in, another to decorate the window and make your home look more pleasing, and also to help with privacy. They say function is more important than form, but it doesn’t have to be that way. You can still keep the sunlight out and make your windows a beautiful accent piece for all to enjoy. However, there are some things to steer clear of when choosing the right window treatments for your home.
